In August 2017, the FCC took two important steps to spur broadband investment and deployment in rural America. First, the FCC paved the way to start its innovative Connect America Fund Phase II “Reverse Auction” in 2018. And second, the FCC established procedures to identify areas in rural America that will be eligible for funding through the Mobility Fund Phase II program.
In April 2016, AT&T launched Access from AT&T, a discounted internet service offer available to qualifying low-income households within our 21-state wireline service areas.
The FCC’s Connect America Fund and Mobility Fund programs provide a proven framework for service providers to compete for broadband funding. Leveraging off the success and structure of these two programs will help carry out the the FCC’s Digital Empowerment Agenda.
